What are the corrosion resistance, pressure resistance and sealing properties of 304 Stainless Steel Corrugated Low Pressure Oil Pipe?

2025-01-24

The corrosion resistance, pressure resistance and sealing of 304 Stainless Steel Corrugated Low Pressure Oil Pipe are important performance indicators for oil pipelines. The following is a detailed description of these properties:

Corrosion resistance
304 stainless steel itself has strong corrosion resistance, especially in most common oil and chemical media environments. Its corrosion resistance is mainly due to the following factors:
Chromium content: 304 stainless steel contains 18% chromium. The addition of chromium can form a stable passivation film on the metal surface to protect the steel from oxidation in the air.
Oxidation resistance: 304 stainless steel also has good oxidation resistance at high temperatures and can maintain corrosion resistance in oil transportation environments with higher temperatures.
Resistant to corrosion by multiple media: 304 stainless steel can resist corrosion from most oils, solvents, alkaline and acidic substances, which makes it widely used in various industrial fields, especially in low-pressure oil pipes in industries such as petroleum and chemical industries.
However, the corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel is not ideal in all environments, especially in strong acid, strong alkaline or chloride environments, the corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel will be subject to certain restrictions. Therefore, although 304 stainless steel corrugated oil pipe is suitable for the transportation of most oil products, for some particularly harsh corrosive environments, it may be necessary to consider using higher-grade materials, such as 316 stainless steel.
Pressure resistance
304 stainless steel corrugated low-pressure oil pipe has good pressure resistance in low-pressure environments. Specifically:
Corrugated design: 304 stainless steel corrugated pipe can provide higher flexibility through its corrugated shape, can effectively withstand a certain internal pressure, and can alleviate the stress concentration caused by pressure changes to a certain extent.

Pressure resistance: 304 stainless steel has high tensile strength and yield strength, which makes the corrugated oil pipe have strong pressure resistance under low pressure conditions. Generally speaking, 304 stainless steel corrugated oil pipe is suitable for low-pressure systems, and the working pressure range that can be withstood is usually between a few bars and more than ten bars (the specific value varies according to the specifications and manufacturing process of the pipe).
Impact resistance: The corrugated structure increases the flexibility of the pipe, can better resist shock, vibration or pressure fluctuations, and is suitable for some dynamic working environments. Even in the case of external impact, 304 stainless steel corrugated oil pipe can still maintain its structural integrity.
It should be noted that 304 stainless steel corrugated low-pressure oil pipes are not suitable for high-pressure oil delivery systems. If the system needs to withstand a high-pressure environment, it is usually necessary to select specially designed high-pressure pipes, or use pipes with thicker walls and stronger materials.
Sealing
The sealing performance of 304 stainless steel corrugated low-pressure oil pipes is directly related to its safety during oil delivery. Its sealing performance is mainly affected by the following factors:
Corrugated design: The corrugated structure can provide a certain degree of sealing, but the corrugation itself will not completely prevent leakage. In order to ensure the sealing, sealing materials such as sealing gaskets and O-rings are usually used at the interfaces and joints of the corrugated oil pipe to enhance the sealing effect at the joints.
Connection method: 304 stainless steel corrugated oil pipes generally use threaded, clamped, flanged and other connection methods. The sealing performance of the connection part usually depends on the processing accuracy of the joint and the material of the seal. If the joint is not installed properly, a small oil leak may occur.
Pipeline status: 304 stainless steel corrugated oil pipes can maintain good sealing under normal use, but under long-term vibration, high temperature or pressure fluctuations, the sealing performance may be affected to a certain extent, especially at the joints. Therefore, it is important to regularly inspect and maintain the sealing device.

304 stainless steel corrugated low-pressure oil pipe has strong corrosion resistance and pressure resistance under most oil products and low pressure conditions. Its sealing performance mainly depends on the installation of the interface and the selection of seals. During use, correct installation and regular maintenance can ensure its long-term and stable sealing effect. However, in some extremely corrosive environments or high-pressure environments, it may be necessary to consider the use of other materials or special sealing designs.
